Meeting between the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Director General of WIPO

On 29 April 2019 Mr Péter Szijjártó, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, accompanied by Mr Péter Sztáray, State Secretary for Security Policy and Mr Ferenc Dancs, Deputy State Secretary for Migration Challenges, took an official visit in Geneva, Switzerland, where he met Mr Francis Gurry, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The main reason of the meeting was that the Hungarian invention “Teqball” was presented in the building of WIPO, on the occasion of the World Intellectual Property Day. The discussions covered, among others, the importance of innovation in the Hungarian economy, the emphasized role of the Visegrad Patent Institute in the field of international patent granting procedures, and the issue of the entry into force of the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement for the Protection of Appellations of Origin and their International Registration.  At the end of the meeting Mr Szijjártó and Mr Gurry gave an interview to WIPO, which is available on the website of WIPO: https://www.wipo.int/portal/fr/.
